Constitutional Court hears AMCU’s appeal against judgment in favour of gold companies - judgment reserved
The Chamber of Mines, acting on behalf of gold producers AngloGold Ashanti, Harmony and Sibanye, advises that the Constitutional Court today heard the appeal by the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) against the 2016 decision of the Labour Appeal Court in favour of the Chamber of Mines.

Immediate suspension of AMCU industrial action at Sibanye Gold operations
Sibanye wishes to advise shareholders that it has entered into discussions with leadership of the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU), and AMCU has agreed to suspend any industrial action at Sibanye’s operations, while engagement continues with AMCU and other representative unions.

Confirmation of notice by AMCU to commence with industrial action
Sibanye wishes to advise shareholders that the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) has served the company with notice to commence industrial action in respect of the 2015 wage negotiations. In terms of the notice, AMCU members will embark on protected industrial action from afternoon shift, Wednesday, 6 April 2016.

Labour appeal court dismisses AMCU’s appeal against Labour Court Judgment
The Chamber of Mines acting on behalf of gold producers, AngloGold Ashanti, Harmony and Sibanye Gold, welcomes the decision by the Labour Appeal Court to dismiss the appeal by the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) against the 2014 decision of the Labour Court in favour of the Chamber of Mines.
