    The Chamber of Mines, acting on behalf of Sibanye Gold, advises that the company has reached a three-year agreement with the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), Solidarity and UASA in respect of wages and conditions of service for the period 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2018.

    Conciliation process continues

    Johannesburg, 1 October 2015: The conciliation process between gold producers AngloGold Ashanti, Evander, Harmony and Sibanye Gold represented by the Chamber of Mines and unions the Association of Mining and Construction Union (AMCU), the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), Solidarity and UASA continued today. Further discussions between all the parties will continue tomorrow (Friday, 2 October 2015).

    CCMA conciliation process to resume on 1 October 2015

    Johannesburg, 25 September 2015: Gold producers AngloGold Ashanti, Evander Gold Mines, Harmony and Sibanye Gold advise that the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) has informed the parties involved in gold wage negotiations that further conciliation has been rescheduled to continue on Thursday, 1 October and Friday, 2 October 2015.

    The gold producers represented by the Chamber of Mines advise that senior commissioner, John Shardlow, today resolved to consolidate the referrals of disputes between the Chamber of Mines representing its members and the four unions, the Association of Mining and Construction Union (AMCU), the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), Solidarity and UASA.

    The gold producers represented by the Chamber of Mines advise that the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) today heard the Chamber of Mines’ application for consolidation of referrals of disputes between the Chamber of Mines and the Association of Mining and Construction Union (AMCU), the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), Solidarity and UASA.

    The gold producers represented by the Chamber of Mines advise that the Labour Appeal Court today heard the appeal by the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) against the 2014 decision of the Labour Court in favour of the Chamber of Mines.

    Dispute referred to CCMA

    Gold companies represented by the Chamber of Mines (AngloGold Ashanti, Evander Gold Mines, Harmony and Sibanye Gold) advise that the companies have declared a dispute with Solidarity, and will refer the matter to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) for mediation.

    Gold companies (AngloGold Ashanti, Evander Gold Mines, Harmony and Sibanye Gold) note Solidarity’s indication of the union’s intention to accept the companies’ final offer made on 30 July 2015. However, the companies advise that no wage agreement has been reached with any party.

    AMCU and NUM formally reject final offer

    NUM declares dispute

    Gold companies (AngloGold Ashanti, Evander Gold Mines, Harmony and Sibanye Gold) advise that following a two-day mediated process during which the companies engaged with all the unions on repackaging the final offer, both the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) rejected the offer. The final offer tabled on 30 July 2015 by the companies was made on the basis that it was accepted by all unions.

    Producers respond to spurious claims made by AMCU

    Gold companies represented by the Chamber of Mines in wage negotiations today reiterated that offers made to unions on 31 July 2015 are final. These offers represent an increase to current rate of pay of between 9% and 18% at entry level. The companies also expressed disappointment at the lack of progress made in discussions today, particularly since the emphasis on disposable income was made in direct response to the unions’ requests.
